The season of Advent is just around the corner –  November 29DSC_0113

  • The people of Christ Church enjoy a tradition of “decking the halls” on the Sunday before Advent, which is November 22. On that Sunday, you are invited to join in the festivities by staying after Worship to decorate the sanctuary, narthex and some classrooms.  Refreshments will be available in the narthex, and you are invited to “graze” while you decorate.   (Looking ahead:  the date for “undecking the halls” will be January 3.  Not nearly as much fun, but very necessary.)
  • Another tradition associated with Advent is to provide flowers for the chancel on the Sunday before Christmas and the Christmas Eve service. The Worship team encourages you to either give Joy Barnett a donation for a potted plant or to purchase your own and bring it to church by Sunday, December 20.
  • A new Advent activity (to become a tradition?) is to go caroling in our neighborhood. Mark your calendars:  Sunday, December 20, meet at the church at 5:00 and then leave at 5:30 to carol.  Please check the weekly announcements in the next few weeks for details about sharing a meal afterward.
